Introducing DigitalBBQ

A few months ago, my husband finally set up his blog. We had a bit of a debate over the name. He wanted to name it “BIM and BBQ,” but I felt that it would limit the scope of the blog to only BIM-related posts. Instead, I suggested “Digital BBQ,” which would allow him to write about a wider range of topics, while still incorporating his love for cooking delicious meals. Check it out here: https://digitalbbq.au/

If you love my blog about the world of psychology and human resources in Australia then you will love these posts which I highly recommend:

The Power of Team Selection in Project Alliances
Team selection plays a crucial role in the success of project alliances in the Australian construction industry. The right team should have shared values, complementary skills, and a shared vision. Project alliances can help address challenges in the construction industry, such as skills shortages. Trust and team cohesion are important factors in the success of project alliances.

Understanding the Skills Shortage in the Australian AEC Industry
The AEC industry in Australia is facing a significant skills shortage, particularly among engineers. The retirement of experienced professionals and difficulty in finding and retaining skilled workers contribute to this problem. The shortage impacts productivity, project costs, and the industry’s ability to take on new projects. Government policies and industry initiatives aim to address the shortage through vocational training programs, apprenticeships, and efforts to attract international talent.

Redefining Leadership: The Power of Authenticity in the Workplace
Authentic leadership is a transformative force in today’s workplace culture, emphasizing authenticity, transparency, and ethics. It creates a positive work environment, enhances team performance, and promotes individual success. By fostering trust and commitment, authentic leaders inspire collaboration, creativity, and self-awareness.

The Charismatic Leader: A Double-Edged Sword
Charismatic leaders rally teams and achieve remarkable results, but charisma can be misused for unethical actions. Leaders may overlook ethical consequences, harming the organization. While charismatic leadership can be effective in crises, it can also lead to a lack of employee support. Promoting integrity and ethical choices is crucial in navigating charismatic leadership. The goal is to embrace charisma’s positives while remaining cautious of its downsides for effective and responsible leadership.

The Legality of Being Directed to Take Leave Without Pay or Annual Leave in Australia
Employees in Australia should be aware of their rights regarding leave. Asking employees to take unpaid leave or forcing them to take annual leave without justification can be illegal. The Fair Work Ombudsman provides guidelines on these practices. Stand down is different from unpaid leave, as employees remain employed but are not required to work. Unpaid leave requires employer agreement. Employees can be directed to take annual leave during a shutdown if allowed by their award or agreement.
